Growing up with parents like hers, Kerra Mazarelli never really got to know what it was like to be loved and cared for, always feeling like she was simply there to be part of a checklist. It never really dawned on her how much she was missing even when she was taken in by other family as most saw her as a burden. It wasn’t until her Aunt Tammy came along to take her in that she got a taste of what it was like to have someone care about her, to feel familiar love. But now that her aunt has found someone special and is moving in with them, someone who has a child already, she wonders if this is the time she gets pushed out once again. She’s still struggling with getting through college but she knows she’s an adult now so perhaps it was best if she just went away.
