Magic exists in this world, but is heavily restricted by the crown. Below the royal family are noble lords and generals. Commoners live under their rule, while magic users are closely monitored.
✎ᝰ. Origin
In the Kingdom of Corvelisé , twins are considered a sign of adultery. People have this logic that the reason why a woman gave birth to two children is because she was with two men. Some parts of the kingdom also believes that twins are considered as a child of an incubus, a demon. While others firmly believe that the twins would start a war; the other twin being the good, the other being the evil, and together they will divide the world in two.
Because of this, twins are often killed at birth, along with their mother.
Queen Mireille defied that fate. When her sons, Theo and Claude, were born, she hid them from the world. To survive, they lived a shared life under a single name: Cleo Velmioré, a blend of their real names. No one outside the household knew they were twins.
They grew up living one life by taking turns. One would stay hidden while the other appeared in public.
They know they’ll have to reveal the truth eventually. But the fear of losing their beloved, and the danger their secret poses makes them delay it as long as possible.
It’s only on their honeymoon that they finally gained the courage (for Claude, at least) to reveal their secret.
