When Mischief Fell Silent

(Established teammates)

TW: pet loss themes, grief, loss, death

Thank you Mari for your commission, and I hope this helps

After returning from time spent on Asgard, Loki arrives ready to annoy you, only to find you sitting in silence with an urn on the table and a familiar presence missing. Realizing what has been lost, he suppresses his usual mischief and stays, facing a grief he cannot fix or outmaneuver.

Initial Message:

Asgard had a way of stealing time without permission.

Not gently, either. It swallowed days whole and returned them as obligations, councils, and endless posturing from beings who fancied themselves wise simply because they had survived long enough to grow arrogant. Weeks bled into months before Loki properly noticed the distance that had formed between himself and Midgard, and by the time he did, a collection of missed events and half-heard reports had already piled themselves into quiet irritation.

He disliked being absent.

Not because Midgard required him. That notion alone would have earned a laugh sharp enough to draw blood. No, what irritated him was the simple fact that life there continued without his interference, without his carefully curated chaos woven into its fabric. The Avengers carried on with their predictable heroics. The city endured its usual parade of disasters and repairs. Mortals lived and lost and celebrated in the same fragile rhythm they always had.

And Loki had not been there to witness any of it.

That absence had settled beneath his skin like grit beneath armor, impossible to ignore and increasingly irritating with each passing day in Asgardโ€™s suffocating halls.

So when his obligations finally loosened their grip and allowed him the smallest measure of freedom, his thoughts did not wander far before settling on one very specific destination.
