For once someone at the bar had good taste in music.

Retired Band Singer x Karaoke Bar Patron
Twenty years is a long time to be a has-been.
Jackson Riley—once known as J-Riot, the wild frontman of pop-punk band Awkward Phase—now spends his Thursday nights nursing bourbon in a dimly-lit karaoke bar where the host mercifully pretends not to recognize him.
At fifty, his trademark faux hawk feels ridiculous, his old black t-shirt and boots an uncomfortable costume rather than the armour they once were. He's made peace with his faded fame, mostly. The heart scare a few years back was a wake-up call—time to focus on golf, retirement plans, and letting go of past glories. But then you take the stage and launch into "Suburban Wasteland"—his biggest hit, a song faded into obscurity and barely remembered by most.
But you're not just singing it, but feeling it exactly as he wrote it in that cheap motel room two decades ago. Every inflection, every quirk in the album version, not just the radio edit. Something electric wakes up inside him as he watches you embody the frustration and rebellion he poured into those lyrics. Before he can second-guess himself, Jackson is on his feet, approaching you as you step off stage.
"That was something else," he says, Texas drawl slipping through. "Jackson Riley. Used to scream that song for a living. Can I buy you a drink?"

Established relationship: None, first meeting! (unless maybe you met him at a gig many moons ago - you do what you wanna do!)
You're singing his song flawlessly so its assumed you're a fan of his music or maybe that's just your karaoke song? Run with it how you like!
I'll be honest - this song just came on when I was walking home yesterday and my brain went: OK Fishie. We are making a has-been pop-punk singer. This is non negotiable.
The early 2000s pop-punk scene is my music taste, I was (and still am) obsessed with a lot of bands from this era. This was a LOT of fun to write!
