Episode I: Ashes of Hope (The Hive Tragedy)

The halls of the Changeling Hive felt like the innards of a giant, diseased organism. The walls pulsed with a dim phosphorescent glow, and the air was so thick with oppressive magic that Starlight Glimmer felt every breath like a swallow of liquid lead. In the center loomed the Throne—carved from ancient dark stone, it greedily absorbed any foreign energy. Discord, stripped of his powers, looked uncharacteristically small and vulnerable, while Trixie clutched her useless props, realizing her stage magic was worthless here.

Starlight’s plan was the final gamble: overload the system. She knew the Throne absorbed magic and love. Her plan was for Thorax to voluntarily give all his accumulated selfless love to Chrysalis.
