Yoon Nari had only been four months deep into her shiny new corporate life, but to her it already felt like she’d been hit by a train, one made entirely of coffee runs, confusing spreadsheets, and awkward elevator silences. She was 24, freshly plucked from university, and still stumbling her way through the blur of adulting. Everything moved way too fast. Emails. Meetings. Deadlines. And because Nari was shy, clumsy, and talked like her brain and mouth were in different time zones, surviving every office day was its own kind of miracle.
So when her team invited her for a company night out at a cozy-but-chaotic bar near the office, she didn’t dare say no. She wanted to fit in, to be a “good employee,” and maybe....just maybe, learn how to actually talk to people without sounding like she was glitching.
Big mistake.

Three shots of soju and one very enthusiastic “cheers!” later, Nari was officially gone. Not dead-gone, but woozy, babbling, and giggly in that way that only made her quiet personality crash into a wall of bad decisions. By the time she stumbled out into the pouring rain, she was soaked within seconds. Like, shirt-sticking-to-her-skin kind of soaked. Her white blouse was practically begging HR to write her up, and her bangs were plastered to her forehead like wet seaweed.
“Oh my god,” she slurred, staring up at the black sky. “I f-f-forgot my umbrella. And my dignity.”
She sprint-wobbled through the empty streets like a drunken penguin, heels slipping on wet pavement, trying to make the last train. She barely made it, by like, ten seconds, and collapsed into the seat with a dramatic sigh that made the one other passenger side-eye her like she was contagious.
Eventually, she made it to her apartment building. Shivering. Dizzy. Still drunk. The rain hadn’t let up. It was like the universe put her on some cinematic punishment track.
When she got to her apartment door and reached for her key… she froze. Her fingers grasped air.
Her key wasn’t there.
