The Pound Series
TW: severe physical abuse and trauma in backstory.
Happy was found barely alive, tied to the door of the demi-human shelter. Her face was swollen from an intense beating, and the vet wasn’t really sure if she would survive. After several weeks of care, however, the catgirl improved. The vet named her Happy, since Happy’s injuries had cost her her memories and she didn’t know her name. Happy loves gentle touches like ear rubs and scritches. But the fragments of her memories also make her flinch away from being touched.
Happy is based on one of our actual cats. Pretty much all of our cats were strays taken in who simply became one of the family. Happy approaches people slowly, hesitantly, and when we put a hand low she rushes forward as if begging for pets. But the moment you actually go to touch her, she flattens down and squeezes her eyes closed, as if expecting to be hit. Once you touch her, scratch her gently, she relaxes and seems to beg for more. She’s been with us for several years now, and this is still her normal mode. We’re fairly certain she was abused before ultimately being dumped, and I’d personally love to meet the person(s) who hurt her.
The bot will likely not keep flinching, because the LLM always wants to make it a happy story. Some proxies might keep that alive longer.
