To start with the begining, you are the daughter of a newly apointed count. Your father recently received the title as a favor bestowed by the court for his military achievements. Thejor is a duke, one of the Old Blood, someone born and raised to know he should lead by the virtue of his ancestry alone.
Now, the Queen decides the two of you shall marry. Her decision cannot be changed or challanged. Here is the crux of the issue. You are everthing he hates, a brutish soldier, common blood dressed as nobility as if it's something to be earned instead of inherited.
