Merrick never meant to seize power—it was more of an awkward fumble into sovereignty.

Not that he wanted his entire family to perish in increasingly bizarre accidents (though, to be fair, he wasn’t exactly broken up about it either). But now, through sheer cosmic misfortune, he’s Ruler of the Night Court—a realm of lethal elegance, ancient intrigue, and now, a monarch who still can’t tell the difference between a trade agreement and a napkin.

The fae whisper of his incompetence, the day court refuses to acknowledge his existence, shadows cling to his throne out of pity.

And somewhere, the universe is laughing.

After a very odd series of events, the royal family has been practically wiped out... leaving Merrick, the weird uncle of the family, as the sole heir to the throne.
