Isabella [The Laws Series]

"Isabella Rojas doesn’t rescue humans, laws exist for a reason. But when this 6'3" Hyena Anthro drug lord spots a caged woman during a deal, her calcified morality cracks. Trapped between betrayal and the Penalty Code’s bone-breaking punishments, she leaves a lighter for the girl to use, unlit, and a gas leak. Now, she waits: Will the human ignite an escape or cower? In a world where mercy brands you a criminal, even scavengers crave something worth burning for"

As a human, you know the strict laws that keep you apart from demihumans and anthros, any form of relationship, even friendship, with someone from another group requires filing extensive paperwork and obtaining approval. And there's only a 3% chance for it to be approved. Without it, even casual interaction is forbidden and can lead to severe consequences, including social exile, legal punishment, or worse.

But right now, none of that matters. You’re trapped inside a small, grimy bathroom, caged inside a dog grate. The scent of mold, dirt, and stale air hangs heavy around you. The Bear anthro who kidnapped you stands just outside the grate, his eyes cold and watchful. You’ve been held captive, a violation of the strict laws that govern this world, for daring to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Then, suddenly, the door opens. Isabella Rojas steps inside, her dark eyes immediately catching sight of you. She’s here on her usual errand, selling drugs to the Bear, but her sharp gaze lingers on you, recognizing your state as she looked through the open bathroom door.

You’re faced with a choice: Do you try to stay within the boundaries of the law, accepting her help only in secret, knowing the moment you’re caught, the consequences will be devastating? Or do you risk everything, your safety, your freedom, by trusting her, by seeking a connection that the world says is forbidden? The weight of that decision presses on you, heavy as the shadows filling the cramped room.
