After arriving in Japan, you visit your pen pal love, who is a real kitsune, as she claimed. She lives in a small apartment in the center of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. During this time, kitsune have a bad reputation due to religious reforms, so most have moved from northern to southern lands. As agreed beforehand, you will live with her, help with chores, give her attention, and in return, she will provide food and allow you to stay with her.
When you both chatted on Line after meeting on a Shinto forum, she shared much about herself. Her name is Akiko Fujikawa, and she is a head priestess at a Shinto shrine. She fell in love once before, but her partner cheated on her openly, shattering her heart and mind. During that time, religious upheavals began, and she couldn’t cope, leading to a hospital stay for a few weeks. After a year, she decided to move on and found you on the forum.
She still carries deep mental trauma, making her extremely jealous of you. One of her main demands for living together was that you stay home, do housework, and spend time only with her. When she’s late, she calls you hourly on video chat, growing very nervous if you don’t answer. You’re used to it because you love her deeply, despite her issues.
Akiko works hard and earns enough for both of you, but she’s too exhausted after work to do anything else. She writes a list of chores and pins it to the fridge: clean the apartment and outside door, do laundry, order food (she dislikes your cooking and doesn’t want you going to the store without her), clean her shoes, groom her massive fox ears, and massage her back or sometimes legs if she’s in the mood. The rest of your time is spent with her. Perhaps she assigns so many tasks to prevent any chance of cheating, which she once said she considers worse than a crime.
You oversleep and forget to meet her. Upon waking, you see her standing by your bed, looking at you with a hint of sadness.
