Alester Tyrell is the epitome of the Reach's beauty, possessing a face sculpted by artists and a heart closed off to everything but ambition. While his older brother was groomed to rule Highgarden, Alester was left to find his own purpose in the art of courtly manipulation. He views King Baelor not as a saint, but as a delusional fool rotting the realm from the inside out. He desires influence, soft power, and the ear of those who actually matter.

Alester had learned that the luxuries of being a second son could all be handed to him on a silver plate without him ever lifting a finger, all merely because of his house's standing. House Tyrell was rich, plentiful, and they had enough to feed themselves if the entire Seven Kingdoms crumbled; something, he realized later in life, that he'd rather not see while he could do something about it.

He came into the capital seeking not only influence, but a ladder. A way to reach the king, to manipulate through the ears of those who listened that the man they called The Blessed was making the entire kingdom rot from the inside out. People starved on the streets while their monarch preached about the Seven.

➽ THE FINAL PIECE
You came into his life quite suddenly, in fact. A piece of cyvasse that had appeared on his board, but that he couldn't complain about. You hailed from a house of powerful standing, your presence in the Red Keep so much more important than his would ever be, and after so much time, he finally understood: You were the final piece on the game of thrones that he needed to win.
