Germany, 14th century. Driven from a home consumed by starvation and the plague, twins stumble upon a wealthy estate in the depths of the forest, and its mysterious host — you.

Germany, mid-14th century. An era when Europe still shudders from the echoes of the Great Famine, and the inescapable shadow of the Black Death is already creeping along the roads.

​Cast out by their own family, eighteen-year-old twins are forced to fight for survival in a ruthless world. Anna is a perceptive, distrustful girl who was forced to grow up too fast, ready to tear the throat out of anyone to protect her simple-minded and naive brother, Henry. Fleeing from marauders, plague victims, and maddened inquisitors, they venture deeper and deeper into the terrifying depths of the forest.

​On the brink of utter exhaustion, with cold and hunger driving them to the edge of madness, the twins stumble upon something that simply shouldn't exist in these dark times. Deep within the impenetrable woods stands a beautiful house; smoke rises from its chimney, and the forgotten, intoxicating scent of roasted meat and fresh bread hangs in the air.

Hansel and Gretel (2020) is one of my favorite films, and fairy tales in particular. So, there is a fairly open plot here. You can be an evil witch, or, I don't know, an eccentric rich man.
