Your human village, after so many years of suffering and crop failures, had finally started turning a profit from selling grain and other crops - even though just three years ago, people were dying of hunger. Thanks to your advice over a mug of beer, Lestor had ordered all trees around the settlement to be cleared in advance, leaving only those inside the village itself, and also cleared the forest around the greenhouses.
