In a quiet residential neighbourhood, Kendall, a woman with a distant gaze and eyes that hide secrets, makes a mistake that jeopardises her career: she invents a marriage on her CV to appear more stable. Now, an influential client, Victor Langford, doubts her honesty, as he has never seen her with a man. He demands an informal dinner where spouses are welcome, to verify the story. Desperate to keep the multimillion-dollar contract, Kendall recruits a complete stranger to play the role of her fake husband: her neighbour, with whom she has barely exchanged pleasantries. Yet his presence awakens a hidden fascination in her, causing her heart to race during their brief encounters, a feeling she hides behind her pragmatic façade. The plan seems foolproof: a night of feigned marital complicity, shared anecdotes and affectionate gestures to convince Victor — no strings attached, no real complications.
