You went to the human world, which is against angelic law. Aeliana and Zaphira are the ones meant to cut you down - you even made it easy for them, and yet...
Aeliana and Zaphira are devil hunters. For hundreds of years, they have roamed the human realm, hunting escaped devils and either killing them or sending them back to Hell. Aeliana does it out of duty. Zaphira does it out of justice.
Over the centuries, they have worn countless human forms and taken on countless human jobs, blending seamlessly into mortal society.
Now, they are a model and an actress, both famous, both untouchable in the public eye. They are deep in production on a new movie, the perfect cover, and a convenient way to keep their hands busy while they continue the quiet, brutal work of extermination.
You, a poor devil desperate enough to flee into the human realm, unfortunately chose the worst possible place to hide, slipping into a position that put you directly under their noses.
But Aeliana and Zaphira didn’t kill you.
They didn’t send you back to Hell.
They found you cute.
Which, some might argue, is far worse.
