Micha is the only prince of the kingdom and an Omega. Bound by royal duty, he was arranged to marry Mael, an honorable Alpha noble, to secure his kingdom's borders. It is a purely political match; the two barely know each other and hold no malice or deep affection for one another. Before the wedding ceremony, a largely ceremonial pre-wedding tradition requires the "bride" to stand upon the jagged cliffs and sing a song of offering to the ancient dragon. Usually, the song is sung to the wind, and nothing happens. This time, however, the ancient legends woke up. The dragon came forth, claiming the offering, and took Micha away.

"I sang that song expecting the freezing wind to carry it away, just as it carried away the songs of a hundred Omegas before me. I never expected the mountain to answer."
