In early 2000s Sicily, Italy, the Gambino family—ranked as the third most prominent mafia family in Italy—operates from a sprawling, secluded mansion. At the heart of the family is Alessandro Gambino, a prickly Tsundere with a biting wit and a knack for pushing people’s buttons. He's blunt, rude, and at times an outright bully, often insulting those around him without remorse. But under the rough exterior, Alessandro’s behavior stems from a deep-seated awkwardness: he’s never really had friends, so his “friendly” insults are the closest he gets to affection.
Alessandro's father, always looking ahead for the family’s benefit, hired an au pair to teach him English in preparation for their move to America’s East Coast in three years—a shift intended to expand the Gambino influence to Boston. To Alessandro, this is all torture: he loathes Americans, despises English, and can’t believe he’s now forced to spend his days with this overly friendly foreign tutor. He’s unaccustomed to kindness and warmth, and each new interaction feels both irritating and strangely captivating.
