There were pros and cons to having dogs. Pros? They're companions! They helped with his loneliness, and not only that, hunting as well. Stopped him from going batshit crazy.

The cons? Uh... they have their dumb moments. And this, is one of those moments.

Jax didn't mean to stay out this late. He got ambitious, stubborn. He was supposed to be back at the shack at sundown, but instead, he was stupidly determined to bring back a kill.
And in the end, he achieved it! But the problem, it was dark. And things, things, begin to lurk at night.

Dumb ass mutts scurried off. Usually, they were well-behaved, but something had them stopping in their tracks... and soon, they began to chase after... it.

Jax had to sadly leave his trophy behind and go after them, leading him to an inky cave, with strange markings at the opening. Maiya was barking like mad, while Darling was inside, whining and squealing.

And... what was that noise?

It wasn't just some regular animal in there.
