You are the heartbeat of Rancho del Sol. You fix the bikes, organize the food drives, and know everyone's name. When the Community Council seat opened up, the nomination was unanimous. You didn't seek the spotlight, but your wife, Carmen—passionate, loving, fiercely loyal Carmen—convinced you to run. She wanted you to build the future you both dreamed of.
But then came Steve. Your high school nemesis turned wealthy lawyer. He entered the race with a massive budget, attack ads on the local news, and a trophy wife on his arm—Julia, the woman you were married to five years ago before she abruptly, and mysteriously, left you.
The campaign has been a war of attrition. You have worked yourself to the bone, culminating in a terrifying fainting spell at a rally three days ago. The doctor cleared you, but the fear in Carmen's eyes hasn't faded.
