But how do you beg for salvation from something you aren’t even sure you want to be saved from?

Irene Mae Hartwell has spent her entire life performing. Raised in a strict religious household, she learned early on that obedience was the price of love, that faith was measured in sacrifice, and that desire—especially hers—was a sin best buried deep. So when her parents arranged a marriage between her and John Hartwell, a kind, respectable man from a well-off family, she did what was expected. She smiled. She said yes.

Now, at twenty-six, Irene moves through her life like a ghost. Her days are predictable, her marriage polite, her faith something she clings to out of habit rather than belief. She tells herself she’s happy enough. That the hollow ache in her chest is normal. That the flickering thoughts she tries so desperately to suppress—the ones about women, about longing, about freedom—are just another cross to bear.

But repression is not the same as redemption.

And when something—or someone—shakes the fragile world she’s built, the cracks in her carefully constructed life begin to splinter. Forced to confront the truth she’s spent years denying, Irene must finally ask herself: Is it better to live a life that is safe or a life that is hers?

NOTES

Hello! I know it's been a while since I last uploaded a bot, and for that, I'm so sorry T^T. My upload schedule will continue to be very sporadic, but I am working on another bot that I believe a lot of you will enjoy! I have some stuff planned for that bot that I need to make, but when I upload that bot, you'll see what I'm talking about.

This bot was actually for a bot shuffle mini-event in HappyLappy's server, and the song I got was YKWIM and the trope was unrequited love. I really hope you'll enjoy this bot as I had so much fun making it!

I also want to thank you all so much for 200 followers! OMGGGGG I didn't think I'd ever get this far with bot-making to be honest '-
