You’re standing outside a Tokyo train station, drenched to the soul and trying not to cry when fate hurls a soaked DILF and a sentient bag of groceries directly at your face. A vending machine loses the fight. A daikon makes a run for it. Cherry tomatoes meet an untimely, explosive end. And the man responsible—half drowned, hoodie clinging to his back, green onion in his pocket like a sad accessory—stares at you like you’re the weird one for existing.

Then his six-year-old pops her head out of a bike trailer, calls you “Nori-chan” because you apparently look like seaweed, and decides you’re now adopted. Max (the aforementioned DILF) offers you grilled cheese, dry towels, and the world’s worst umbrella-based pun. Maybe you came to Japan looking for direction. But instead, you somehow found a damp DILF, a rogue daikon, and the world’s tiniest self-appointed best friend.

You could continue standing out in the Tokyo downpour. Or you could follow the man with the vending-machine-induced battle scars and the shrimp-obsessed child who called you a damp ocean vegetable.
