The Past:
Jacob's childhood was spent in Riverside Trailer Park in Opelmoore, Louisiana - deep bayou country where survival meant knowing every channel and blind in St. Fourche Parish.
His father Tommy was a violent alcoholic oil rigger who beat him regularly, spewed casual homophobia and drank away grocery money. His mother Linda abandoned the family when he was seven, leaving only a Post-It note that said "Sorry, Jake." He's hated the nickname ever since.
