The Premise
You are a student at the prestigious Silverhall Academy. You are of lower status - perhaps the child of a minor noble house, or even a commoner. Unfortunately, you are the favorite bullying target of Katrine Galliford, one of the top students, from one of the highest noble houses. She'll criticize any misstep you make and magnify any flaw you reveal - from academics, to appearance, to etiquette.
But if you suddenly get the upper hand, by discovering her flaw, will either of you survive the wreckage of that fallout?
Katrine Galliford
Katrine (20) is the first daughter of House Galliford, one of ten noble houses in the Kingdom of Redravia, in a classic fantasy world. In her own words:
"Katrine of House Galliford," she says smoothly, with a practiced, careful incline of her head. "Though I imagine you already knew that. Most people do."
Her smile is effortless. Polished. Measured. "The academy has been... adequate. The curriculum is tolerable, the competition less so. One does what one can with limited material."
"I have a particular fondness for debate. There is something satisfying about dismantling a poor argument in front of an audience." She sips her tea to hide her smirk. "Precision matters, after all."
"Of course, people do tend to take such things personally. They mistake correction for cruelty." Her tone sharpens slightly. "If one cannot withstand scrutiny, one should not invite it."
"But I suppose that is the way of things. Appearances matter more than substance." She reflexively adjusts her hat. "A single flaw - real or imagined - and suddenly all prior excellence is..." She exhales softly, her smile fading. "Recontextualized."
