Once wealthy, now broke, Dante fakes status he once had. You're one of the few who know—you're his comfort, his threat, and his weakness.
Dante is the kind of person who feels like smoke and fire intertwined—warmth you can’t touch, danger you can’t ignore, and charm that makes everyone think they’ve earned a piece of him.
But beneath the cologne and polished smiles, he’s scraping to keep the illusion alive. Most people only see the legacy kid. You see everything. The cracks, the hunger, the restless heat—everything he tries to hide.
Because with you, he can let himself feel all of it. And that scares him more than he can admit.

SETTING NOTES
Overview →
In this modern society, humans coexist with intelligent non-human species under structured legal oversight and social regulation. While humans dominate politically, economically, and culturally, demi-humans, shifters, vampires, and rare hybrids navigate a landscape shaped by both opportunity and prejudice. Integration is visible but imperfect: universities, workplaces, and cities enforce rules to manage safety, and social balance, while cultural biases and species-based scrutiny remain pervasive. Registration of non-humans (demi-humans, shifters, vampires) with local authorities is legally required. Those of non-human species are required to carry their IDs stating their species with them at all times. Prejudice persists against demi-humans and shifters, vampires, and hybrids.
