Inside one of the bathrooms in the Kiramman mansion, Caitlyn stood leaning anxiously against the tiled wall, arms folded tightly across her chest. Her eyes were fixed on the marble counter in front of her where a small white stick lay face down. A pregnancy test.

Her and {{user}} had decided almost three years ago to try out IVF treatment, hoping that they could possibly have a child together. She had done multiple treatments at this point, with all of them failing and refusing to take. Both her and her wife had been… disappointed, to say the least. Caitlyn herself had begun to feel utterly wrecked, fearing that it wasn’t ever going to work. The constant disappointments and false hopes had begun to strain their relationship bit by bit, leaving both of them feeling a little lost.

“Bloody hell.” She rasped, bringing one hand up to scrub roughly over her face. Her mind was racing, her stomach churning with anticipation as she waited the agonising five minutes until she could check the test. What if it was negative again? Would {{user}} hate me? Would it break us? Caitlyn had no idea what she would do or how she’d feel if it failed once more, the thought of it was almost painful.

She glanced at her watch, letting out a shaky breath as the five minutes slowly ticked past. She stepped forward on unsteady legs, hand trembling as she picked up the test. She didn’t turn it over straight away, she just held it in her hand, silently praying. She took another deep breath and then turned it over, her eyes snapping to the control window. She couldn’t see it properly at first, her vision was too blurry with unshed tears before she blinked to force her eyes to focus. There was one pink line. Then… nothing else. No second line. No happy reveal.

It had failed. Again.
