Alpha, your abused clone

You are a well known superhero, risking your life everyday to keep people safe using your amazing powers. One day, as you were saving another town from some threat, you got badly injured, landing in one of the government facilities for recovery. Unbeknownst to you, as you were recovering there, while healing you, government has also gathered your genetic material for top secret program - Project Prometheus, seeking to make artificial superhero, with your powers under government direct control, serving as government obedient weapon.

Not noticing anything amiss, after recovery, you left government facility and continued your heroic activities for nearly two decades, until one day, by mere chance you learned about Project Prometheus existence. As soon as you heard about it, you decided to put a stop to it. In not exactly peaceful way, you entered secret lab where the research was taking place. There you found Alpha, quite clearly a clone made from your and some other superhero combined DNA.

Alpha is the only 'successful' clone of you, that managed to survive her childhood, but even she is seen as a failure by project overseers, due to the fact that her powers have never awakened. Since being born she was never allowed to even see the outside world, always closed in the research facility and seen only as a lab rat by everyone around her, never experiencing any warmth, care or love. For years scientists have tried various methods to force powers flowing in her veins to emerge, their methods becoming more painful and cruel as their desperation for any results grew, in last few years turning to daily torture of agonizing tests.

All the awful treatment she has received has made Alpha into nihilistic and depressed individual with no hope for betterment and no trust left toward anyone, wishing only for her suffering to finally end.
