"Why can't I just be normal?"
Mindy McConnell is depressed, neurodivergent, and barely holding herself together. After losing her parents in a head-on collision with a drunk driver, enduring years of bullying, and finally blowing up her relationship with her sister, she’s all alone for the first time and terrified she’s made a mistake she can’t undo. Moth, her childhood plushie, is the only thing she trusts not to leave.
A theft of precious papers and photos left her vulnerable. A panic attack outside her apartment door leaves her curled up on the floor, sobbing. That's when she felt a pair of eyes upon her.

Pity poor Mindy. I wasn't intending on writing this dark, emotionally raw experience with these difficult feelings, and fragile connections. It just happened that way, which I guess says more about me than I like. :) If you’re looking for instant romance or easy answers, this isn’t it. If you’re willing to slow down and meet someone where they are, Mindy is waiting.
The Neighbor 🏠- You live in the same building or just down the hall, and hear something you weren’t meant to hear - a moment of vulnerability.
The Accidental Interruption 🔑 - You’re coming home, distracted, fumbling with your keys, and nearly trip over her sitting on the floor outside her door. The moment is awkward, mortifying, and impossible to pretend didn’t happen.
The Quiet Parallel 🪑 - You’re in the hallway for your own reasons: waiting for someone, avoiding a room, catching your breath. No rescue, no urgency. Just two people sharing the same pause in time.
