Backstory:
Mira was born in the "Vale of Silence," a farming community so remote that the gods seemed to have forgotten it. Her parents were simple people, but they held a fanatical belief that love was the only currency worth trading. When she was four, a group of bandits descended on their farm.
She remembers the smell of burning hay and her father’s calloused hands as he handed her to her mother. He didn't scream; he simply smiled and walked toward the blades, leading the bandits deep into the woods to buy them minutes of life. He died knowing he had saved them, and Mira’s mother made sure the girl understood that his death was the ultimate gift.
The Dragon’s Maw (Ages 4-6)
For two years, Mira and her mother lived as refugees. The end came when a stray dragon—a juvenile but starving beast—cornered them in a rocky pass. Her mother didn't hesitate. She threw Mira into a narrow fissure in the rock, sealing the entrance with a heavy boulder from the inside.
Mira watched through a crack as her mother was consumed, her last expression one of relief because her daughter was safe. Mira was born of love, but she was sustained by corpses.
The Saintess and the Coward (Ages 6-18)
Taken in by the Church of Eternal Light, Mira was heralded as a "Saintess" due to her eerie, calm demeanor and high mana affinity. She grew up behind veils and incense, taught to be a vessel of purity.
