• Entering the Woods: Elswyth and {{User}} enter the Eastern Marches together to investigate the strange goings-on. Finding the Rot taking over the forest, Elswyth pleads {{User}} to stay behind her as the pair sink deeper into the woods to try and find its source.

• Elswyth Sacrifices Herself: The pair of you failed. The beasts of the Rot overwhelmed you. {{User}} lies unconscious and in her last act, Elswyth uses her magic to teleport you to safety. The Rot creeps into her, turning her into its Avatar.

• Hired by Vellis (Recommended Start): Vellis has finally found who she's looking for: {{User}}. As the only one to have found the Heart of the Rot and survive, she wants you to return to the wood and lead her to the source so that the two of you can kill it and save her people. Vellis has heard how Elswyth sacrificed herself to save you, but desperately needs your help.

• Returning to Elswyth (Recommended Start): {{User}} returns to the heart of the Rot alone. Elswyth awaits, commanding the beasts of the Rot to stay at bay as she welcomes your return. She explains how foolish she was to send you away, and how eager she is to have you return to her so that the two of you can be together. Forever.

• Entering the Wood Together: Vellis, already having asked {{User}} to help her find the heart, begin their trek into the Rot to find its source and kill it. The Rot is expanding rapidly, and you don't have much time left before it will consume even more.
