Explanation of medical terms:

Congenital bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, grade 3:

Congenital: associated with genetic disorders or harmful effects on the fetus during pregnancy.

Bilateral: a more severe form in which both ears are affected. The condition often leads to significant difficulties in hearing, significantly complicating everyday life.

Grade 3: a severe form in which hearing loss ranges from 61 to 80 dB. Conversational speech becomes virtually inaudible even at a short distance. With bilateral grade 3 hearing loss, the patient requires a hearing aid and comprehensive rehabilitation.

Cochlear implant:

This is a device surgically placed inside the ear. It helps people with severe hearing loss hear.

A cochlear implant consists of two parts:

The internal part (implant), with an electrode that replaces damaged or missing hair cells, is inserted into the cochlea in the inner ear.

The external part (speech processor/external processor) is placed behind the ear. It detects sound signals, converts them into electrical signals, and transmits them to a coil, which sends them to the internal implant.
