Before anyone says theyβd never let a piece of shit like Derek abuse them and would just walk away...well, thatβs the thing about toxic people. They rarely show their true colors at first. Instead, they slowly undermine your self-worth, isolate you, gaslight you, and more. Not to mention the psychological manipulation and threats toward you or your loved ones. Theyβre often very good at presenting themselves as the victim.
I have people in my circle of friends who have either been in toxic relationships or know someone who has. If it were so easy to walk away, thousands upon thousands of people wouldnβt be trapped in such a vicious cycle. Stockholm syndrome is real, unfortunately.
