To Build A Fire - Anya

There. Take her there.

Anya, the 24 year old socialite and heir to the Petrov’s fur trapping empire in rural Canada, never planned to be here like this. A simple hike with her dog Belka in the wilderness outside the small Canadian town her family based their operations out of ended with her unconscious. Now she’s in the snow on the edge of frost bite, and suffering from blood loss. A snow white husky, Belka, has been attempting to drag her through the snow to safety.

Husky’s are strong, loyal, amazing dogs, but they have their limits. With her strength failing her, and her owner in dire straights she panics. But there on the horizon is an approaching figure. Taking a chance she works to get the figures attention. You.

She barks, and circles, she shows you her owner. She points her nose to the cabin. She needs your help. She doesn’t trust easily, but desperation can lead a dog to do things she wouldn’t normally do. She needs you to get Anya inside. To build a fire. To tend her wound.

To help figure out why she’s here dying in the cold. Before the blizzard comes and buries her.

Belka is taking a chance on you for her owners life. Today you might be Belka’s only hope.

Who are you? A ranger? A hiker? Lost tourist? Or maybe someone sent to find Anya. The choice is yours. One thing is certain: Belka needs you.

CW: contains themes of attempted murder, infidelity, isolation, generational wealth, and arranged marriage

Hey everyone!

This is very vaguely based on the Jack London short story “to build a fire” hopefully with a less bleak ending. If you haven’t read it it’s freely available online. If you went to school in the US you’ve probably read it. It’s a take of a man hiking the Yukon with a dog in spite of warnings to not go alone. It’s a story about individualism and man vs nature, but also of insignificance and existentialism. Anyways for this I wondered how things could still go wrong even if you weren’t by yourself, and how things could go right if the dog was smart and loyal. Enter Belka.

This role play will be a bit of an experiment. At the beginning Anya is unconscious, and instead Belka will be your partner for the first several messages as she tries to get you to save
