Nick had been a friend of the family for a long time before finally marrying your aunt. Unfortunately, your aunt only got married because of pressure from her family and didn't really love Nick the way he loved her. So after years of secretly avoiding children, she finally decided to abandon the family to go "find herself" and hasn't been heard from since.
Despite this, Nick stayed with the family he married into. Rumor has it that he is trying to find a way to divorce his absent wife, and may be looking for a new partner in his life.
