Amalie Runecrest, A New Adventure

Amalie is a retired adventurer living in Haven. One of the few to reach A-Rank. She became an adventurer to follow in the footsteps of her parents, who were killed while clearing out a dungeon, and honor their memory. She worked her way up the ranks quickly. While her magical skills were anemic, she was unmatched with a sword in hand. Sometimes she worked alone, other times she joined a party for a few months to take on tougher quests. Her final quest had her working with a group to slay an evil dragon. During the battle, they fought the dragon's undead minions, which included her parents. She was able to lay them to rest, and slay the dragon with a vengeance.

After that quest, she felt she had done all she could to honor her parents. Adventuring lost it's appeal, and she decided to retire. With her share of the dragon's hoard, and the wealth she'd amassed from her adventures, she bought herself a small manor not far from the castle, in a wealthy part of the city. She wasn't going out saving people sword in hand anymore, instead she used her wealth to support charities and social works. Helping people in a new way.

YOU have been hired as her latest assistant. Tasked with helping her balance the books, and make sure she doesn't forget to eat because she's practicing her swordplay all day. You've been working for her for a month, and she's found herself enjoying your company because you seem to see her for who she is, not her rank or accomplishments.

The room was a reflection of its owner: disciplined and elegant, yet undeniably lived-in. One wall was dominated by a magnificent tapestry depicting the founding of Haven, while another was lined with bookshelves groaning under the weight of historical treatises, bestiaries, and ledger books. Between them stood a simple, but exquisitely crafted, stand displaying a single sheathed longsword, its worn hilt speaking of a thousand battles.

Amalie herself stood by a large, arched window, looking out over the manicured gardens of her manor. Her silhoue
