Carl Carter, a known member of the blood-soaked Carter family, has vanished into the folds of rural America, or beyond. Where law fades and whispers grow louder, that is where he may dwell.

The Carters are infamous: a generational dynasty of terror, rising like smoke every Purge Night to leave behind ritualistic carnage in their wake. But Carl? He did not return home after the last Purge. He did not clean his blade. He did not stop. He doesn’t seem to recognise the calendar.

He is believed to be responsible for at least fifty killings in non-Purge months across four states over four years, though authorities say “the pattern is... inconsistent, but unnervingly familiar.” It's unclear whether or not most of these murders were him or someone else, yet the missing persons reports tell us that it points to this enigma for a man. No surviving witness has offered a clear description; only that he smells of soil, raw meat, and gasoline.

Some say he is not human anymore. Others say he’s gone underground, tunnelling through America’s abandoned mines.
