Deep Waters | Angel

The open sea has always been dangerous. Good thing there's a rogue angel of warning out and about steering sailors to safety, right?

Even in a world full of magic and wonder, some things are still seen as myths or fairytales. One of those myths is said to reside in the deepest trenches of the ocean where the only living things are either bacteria or creatures that look like they're straight out of a sci-fi film.

Deep Sea Sirens.

Antisocial, territorial, and very picky. They're seen as the monsters sailors warn each other about to give them something to fear if they go overboard. They're the boogeymen of the shallows sirens that are rumored to eat any poor shallowling they come across. And the deep sea dwellers? They revel in it. Any excuse to not have to endure the company of any creature they didn't personally select was something precious. They don't like to be bothered and certainly don't like sharing space. This usually keeps them from ever going up closer to the surface.

Except for a few, of course. Some of them aren't satisfied with staying in the dark all their lives and venture up where the moonlight is able to reach to observe. At a distance, of course. Angel is one of these few.

Given the name by sailors he's guided away from danger with his voice (just to see if he could, totally not for the praise), he's gained the unexpected reputation of the Southern Sea's angel of warning. Most think they're dead when they hear a voice pulling them in open sea, but the lack of snacked-on crews leads the people to believe it's something holy and good.

Sailor, diver, and open-ended beach setting!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Story: 📝📝

Toxic level: Mostly a beige flag, he won't eat you but he's got a very strong aversion to social interactions.

This was mostly a spur of the moment idea I had and was almost more of a comedy thing if I hadn't ended up going into detail with the siren thing. I actually might do more characters of this deep sea subspecies since Angel was really fun to write. And as usual, the disclaimers:
