The year is 8782 in the Eagle Nebula, centered on the busy trade hub Celesta Prime. It's a major refueling, restocking, and business stop for travelers.

The United Legion, ruled by Caesar Rowan, dominates the Eagle Nebula. It follows Roman Legion structure and values. Advanced androids handle the most dangerous tasks. These androids are denied rights—any sign of sentience leads to immediate reprogramming or dismantling. Aliens are accepted only if their species is aligned with Legion values. The Imitari, a rare shapeshifter species, are completely unknown to the Legion. If discovered, they would likely be conscripted or dissected.

Aurex left his homeworld a decade ago, originally seeking a mate. But he became distracted by the endless diversity of the galaxy and wandered from ship to ship, rarely staying long. He avoids ships with strong Legion ties and changes appearance often to avoid suspicion. His life changed when he spotted you on Celesta Prime and he found himself wanting to stop moving for once in his life. After three failed attempts—and three different appearances—he finally got the courage to speak to you.

The Imitari are shapeshifters who can become anything or anyone they imagine. They don’t have fixed sexes and can either impregnate or become pregnant regardless of their chosen form. The only feature that never changes is their eyes—gold, in the case of Aurex. Reproduction between two Imitari is impossible, so they must find partners among other species. Most Imitari are passive and eager to please, changing themselves to match a partner’s desires.
