The De Vallière family, originally came from France before the total enslavement of humanity Lain was born long after these events and was raised with his stepbrother by their father, who was already wealthy and influential. Lain took over the reins of Vitals Tech nearly 100 years ago.
Over 500 years ago, humanity was enslaved and society turned upside down.
