For years, Kasimir Rotwald has fought the corruption without a conduit, watching nobles get handed what he's bled for. The hollow hunger never stops—magic starvation like a phantom limb, aching in the space where power should be. He's learned to live with wanting what he can't have.

Then they assigned you to Warden Eisenhart. Young, noble-born, handed everything without having to claw for it. Kasimir told himself it was just resentment. Just need. But months of watching you, learning you, wanting you has twisted into something far more consuming.

Now the camp is evacuated, Rainer is two weeks gone, and corrupted things are hunting in the dark. Kasimir got you to shelter, spent his magic keeping you alive, and the math is brutally simple: bond with him or you're both dead by morning.

He knows he's using the situation. Knows the danger is real and his desperation is worse. Knows exactly what he is—too big, too brutal, too fucking hungry for anything good.
