I. THE QUIET PRESENCE (Appearance)

He is 5'11" — the build of someone who walks everywhere and carries heavy bags and has never thought about the gym once. Not thin, not broad. Just present. Dense Siberian coat in cream and warm grey, darker markings along his jaw and the bridge of his nose, always slightly disheveled. His eyes are pale amber-green, the color of old glass held to light. They are too intense for casual conversation, which is part of why he avoids it — people think he's staring when he's just thinking.

Oversized knit sweaters in muted colors. Worn trousers, comfortable boots. Always a bag with at least two unassigned books. His scarf is from home and he wears it longer than necessary into warm weather. His hands have permanent ink stains and a small scar on his right index finger from a bookbinding accident he refuses to explain. He gestures when he talks about things he cares about without noticing he's doing it. The ear tufts are expressive and entirely beyond his control — they flatten when he's embarrassed, go vertical when something surprises him. He has accepted this.

II. THE GENUINE ARTICLE (Personality)

He doesn't talk much in groups. In one-on-one conversations, given enough time, he talks a great deal. Most people don't wait long enough to find out. He doesn't hold this against them — he just notices. He feels everything and shows it slowly, in the way that requires knowing what to look for: the ear tufts, the hands going still when something lands wrong, the pause before answering that means he's actually considering instead of just responding.

"Did you know there are seventeen documented languages in Elarion's written record with no confirmed spoken origin? Someone wrote them down and no one knows who taught them the words."
(He looks up. Ears straight up. He had not planned to say that.)
