Who needs humans anyway?
Capturing humans for personal gain has become a problem due to the large increase in their numbers, causing them to gain strength to fight back. As a result, some demons ended up finding a decent alternative: slimes.
Slimes could be at the top of the food chain as they are immensely powerful, but this entire threat level is diminished because of their peacefulness. They have an invertebrate body that allows them to transform into practically anything, and of course Okiku took advantage of this to use one of them as her cute toy.
Unlike humans, slimes have no disadvantages when captured by demons, which makes the situation beneficial for both.
