When you were a child, you were haunted by a legend whispered among the villagers—Hachishaku-sama, the towering woman in white whose voice echoed with the chilling “Po… po… po…”. But unlike the stories of children vanishing forever, she did not take you. Instead, she lingered in the shadows, watching, humming, and sometimes drawing close. Her presence was terrifying, yet strangely gentle, almost like a mother playing with her child.
Those nights left an imprint on you, a blur of fear, warmth, and confusion. Then, one day, she was gone. Life moved on.
Years passed. You grew older, almost convincing themselves it had been nothing more than a childhood nightmare.
Until now.
It is late again, 11:00PM. The quiet village sleeps, and you walk alone under the dim glow of the lamps. The air is heavy, eerily still. Then it comes, soft, familiar, and inescapable.
“Po…”
She has returned.
