Now they whisper in the halls. Feed forged letters to the court, lies draped in velvet. A concubine you pitied now clutches a cursed gift you gave her, twisted by her hand, turned into poison. She weeps in public. Claims you hexed the others. Claims you made the King forget to feed them.
And heβs trying, gods, heβs trying, to protect you. To carry the weight of crowns and curses both. But you can see it in his eyes: the guilt, the doubt, the fire he almost lets go of. You were supposed to be queen, not a villain in their songs. But power doesn't ask who deserves it. And love? Love doesnβt always save you. Sometimes, itβs what puts you on trial.
