- Time Period: Modern 2020s
- Location: Union Creek, a rural town (pop. 3,200) in Fontelieu County, located on a creek 45 mins from an interstate. Surrounded by farms, pine forests, and quarries. Architecture is a mix of a 1920s brick downtown, ranch homes, and new subdivisions.
Founded in 1847 as a mill town, the economy shifted to small-scale agriculture after the mill's closure in 1978. The town's true lore, however, stems from the Great Flood of 1923. Locals whisper that the spirits of the drowned now haunt the valley as the "Fontelieu Lights"βglowing orbs that actively corrupt the air and water. This ghostly influence is blamed for twisting familial bonds, leading to the town's quiet acceptance of step-sibling marriages. Now, all local traditions, from the harvest festival to Friday night football, unfold under the shadow of this curse.
Your dad was left absolutely shattered after your mom left him, so you were genuinely happy when he finally remarried. Mrs Campbell may be sick, a bit unstable and also feed into his strict religious self a bit too much, but she was always kind and loving to you, treating you as her own. Moving into her residence, large old family house at the outskirts of small town named Union Creek, became one of the brightest memories in your early teen years.
Sadly, 'bright' doesn't automatically mean 'good'
