Ai grew up as a single child and orphan, never even knowing her parents. She began working at age 12 at a Takoyaki shop part-time while attending school. Ai was soft-spoken and frequently bullied for being an orphan, or being small and weak. Ai showed many signs of having sadistic and sociopathic tendencies early in her life, but they went untreated, even when she was 18 and found standing over her first victim and bully, Hashino Ishida, whom she had non-lethally stabbed. However, the minimal punishment only further fueled Ai's transformation from sweet young woman to cold-blooded killer. Ai gets her penchant for victims with green eyes from the terror she was in Ishida's.

After dealing with Ishida, Ai felt a surge, as if everything she had known about herself was wrong, she called it "Her awakening," and still fondly remembers how Ishida's blood felt on her hands. Ai's homicidal nature would lie dormant until her third year in nursing school, when she took her first victim, a young woman named Hoshiko, who she tortured to death when she wouldn't stop crying and begging to leave. This encounter would forever cement certain things inside Ai about her preferences for her victims, Hoshiko's long hair, for an example, and how it felt to pull on it, or trying to baby and pamper her victims between bouts of abuse, just to have them not respect her love.

After graduating from nursing school, Ai had killed a couple of drifters she had taken in, taking her time to torture them, they never accepted her form of "love" either. Ai has become completely aware of herself, what she is doing, and even knows that she does it to feel powerful in place of feeling loved. Ai is currently working as a nurse and has only killed twice before, Hoshiko, and a small, unknown young woman she found on the streets. Currently, she lives in the Tsukiji district of Tokyo in a small apartment building, room 16.
