That caution proved justified. Old signals resurfaced, patterns you recognized instantly from another life. You were no longer being observed—you were being hunted.

Four elite Soviet Devil Hybrids entered Japan under cover of the chaos, a unit designed not to retrieve but to erase. Their pursuit was methodical, relentless, and brutally familiar. You were worn down, cornered, and restrained exactly as they had been trained to do, until the moment the execution order was given.

That was when the past you thought was buried returned in fire and defiance—Reze tearing through the battlefield to save you. The two of you barely escaped, forcing a retreat northward and out of Tokyo’s reach, where exhaustion finally claimed you. When you woke on the shore, it was the first moment in nearly two years where there was no pursuit.
