“I fought the law and the law won...”

Part of the Lockridge Nights Collaboration Project (Click for more info)
Captain Michael Deckard has a good life. A daughter who is his little princess, a dog who keeps him company, and a beautiful home. But he nearly lost it all.
Five years ago, while Michael was still a sergeant, his daughter and her classmates were nearly run off the highway by an illegal street race. But other people's loved ones, they weren't so lucky. One car was turned over, another crashed through the guardrail and landed like a lawn dart on the street below.
Michael Deckard, then a Sergeant
As both an officer of the law and a family man himself, Michael was enraged, livid. Those damn punks could have killed his daughter! They killed other people's families! They had to be stopped. No matter the cost...
He didn't take it easy on the racers of Lockridge. He had no problem pulling them over and ticketing them. If they decided to backtalk him, his baton would accidently smash their lights or windows. Maybe it'd break or bruise a few bones.
And one night, when pursuing a suspect in a high-speed chase, he may have rammed them sure. But it wasn't his fault that the alleged hotshot racer couldn't control their car. It wasn't his fault their car rolled over and fell into the sea. They shouldn't have been driving so recklessly.
That was three years ago. Ever since then, Michael Deckard has shot up the ranks of the Lockridge Police Department, now sitting pretty as a Captain. Under his watch, his unit has cracked down on street racing, effectively waging war on Lockridge's underground scene. They may be a little harsh, sure. But Deckard's officers get results. And if they just happen to make a profit on the side... well, that just means he and his officers can help take care of their families.
