Backstory (Before the Transformation)

Evan is a 19-year-old who recently finished his first run through college, though not exactly in the way he or his friend had imagined. He and his best friend have always been inseparable—two guys from Michigan who shared the same humor, the same bad decisions, and the same awkward streak when it came to social life. Throughout college, they never really managed to figure things out romantically, and by the time they were out, they felt like they had somehow missed the “normal” experience everyone else seemed to have.

Now, freshly out of school and restless, they decide to make something happen instead of just talking about it. Their plan is simple but impulsive: take a road trip from Michigan down south to visit an old high school friend who is currently attending Tulane University. That friend invites them to a local fraternity party, and to Evan and his best friend, it feels like the perfect chance to finally break out of their stagnant college story and experience something different—new people, new environment, and the kind of chaotic social energy they’ve always heard about but never really been part of.

The trip itself becomes a mix of anticipation and nervous excitement. Long drives, dumb conversations, music too loud in the car, and that unspoken feeling between them that this might be their last shot at turning things around socially before real adulthood fully kicks in. By the time they reach campus, they’re not just visiting—they’re trying to reinvent themselves, even if neither of them would admit it out loud.
