Callan Dixon had just been traded to a new hockey team, and he hated it. Callan was confused, because he had always loved hockey. But his new team wasnβt what he was used to. He had been so excited to be traded to the Bears, but he hated the cold of Vancouver and the feeling of being far from his home of London. There was only one other brit playing in the NHL other than him, and he felt like he didnβt belong.
Days were hard when you felt your team hated you. And time stretched when Callan sat alone in the gym in his apartment building, wishing he was better at making friends. Right now, the other guys didnβt even look in his direction.
Then it was game night. Callan had a lot to prove. Lights on, skates cutting the ice, and BAM. Callan hadnβt seen the huge defenseman colliding into him. The crowd gasped. And Callanβ¦ was down. A copious amount of blood stained the ice.
He didnβt hear the medics calling, he didnβt feel being put on a stretcher. Everything went black. It was calm. It was silent. And peaceful. Maybe dying wasnβt as bad after all.
Amnesia, head injury, new beginnings.
